Global artificial intelligence(AI) firms, including Anthropic and OpenAI, are expanding their presence in India by offering enterprise-focused AI services.

The progress indicates a shift in the country’s technology landscape, where traditional IT service providers such as Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys have dominated for years. Industry experts say the development can potentially reshape how businesses adopt and deploy AI solutions at scale.

AI Firms Target Enterprise and Services Market in India

Anthropic and OpenAI are positioning themselves as more than model providers. They plan to offer AI-driven solutions directly to companies. This includes automation tools, enterprise workflows and customised AI deployment services customised to business needs.

The move puts them in close competition with India’s established IT consulting firms, which have traditionally handled large-scale digital transformation projects. With new offerings focused on faster deployment cycles & direct integration, we might see advanced AI systems take over business operations.

India has a large base of enterprise clients and a growing digital economy, making it a major market. Companies across sectors are increasing spending on AI to improve efficiency, customer service and decision-making processes.

Pressure Builds for Traditional IT Firms

The entry of global giants AI players will challenge the outsourcing model followed by firms such as TCS and Infosys. These companies have already begun investing heavily in AI capabilities, partnerships and workforce training to stay competitive.

Industry experts believe that Indian IT firms, despite having strong client relationships and execution scale, might lose to AI-native companies, which offer modern technology and faster innovation cycles.

This creates a new layer of competition in high-value services.

At the same time, collaboration offers great promise and partnerships between global AI firms and Indian IT providers could work wonders by combining technological expertise with delivery strength.
