Google has updated its Gemini AI chatbot to allow users to upload up to 10 files within a single prompt. This feature is now accessible across Android, iOS, and web platforms and is compatible with Gemini models 2.0 Flash, 2.5 Flash, and 2.5 Pro.

Previously, users were restricted to attaching only one file per prompt. Attempting to add another would prompt a message indicating that the current file would be replaced. With this update, users can now attach multiple files simultaneously, streamlining the process of providing context or information to the AI assistant.

Enhanced User Experience Across Platforms

The new feature also integrates with Gemini's built-in camera functionality. Users can capture photos and add them directly to their prompts, enhancing the interactive experience. This expansion aims to make interactions with Gemini more efficient and user-friendly.

Josh Woodward, a lead on the Gemini team, acknowledged the previous limitation, stating on X (formerly Twitter), "Papercut fixed: @GeminiApp now lets you upload multiple files at the same time. Sorry we didn't have this before—if you see other little annoying things like this, drop them here! We'll aim to fix the most common things that cause grumpiness."

Real-Time AI Interaction

Beyond this update, Google is reportedly developing a "Live for AI" mode, which would allow users to share on-screen content with Gemini in real-time. This feature is expected to be integrated with Google Lens, expanding its capabilities beyond traditional camera-based object recognition.
