Google has selected 20 AI-first startups for edition of its Google for Startups Accelerator programme 2026, marking it’s 10th year in the country.
The latest cohort was chosen from around 2,500 applications, reflecting growing interest in artificial intelligence (AI) startups building solutions for healthcare, finance, climate, agriculture, cybersecurity and enterprise software.
Google backs next generation of AI startups
The selected startups will take part in a three-month, equity-free accelerator programme designed for Seed-to-Series A companies. Founders will receive one-on-one guidance from Google engineers and industry experts while gaining access to the company’s AI models, cloud infrastructure and product development support.
Google said the programme is aimed at helping startups strengthen their products, improve AI systems and prepare for growth in both Indian and international markets. Participants will also receive mentoring across engineering, design, product strategy and business expansion.

Cohort reflects India’s expanding AI ecosystem
According to Google, this year’s class highlights the increasing technical depth of India’s AI startup ecosystem. The companies are developing AI products across sectors including climate technology, developer tools, healthcare, financial services and enterprise applications.
The accelerator is focused on startups building core AI products rather than simply adding AI features to existing software. Areas of interest include agentic AI, multimodal AI, physical AI and specialised AI models built for Indian and global use cases.

Programme marks a decade in India
The 2026 cohort also coincides with the 10th anniversary of Google’s accelerator initiatives in India. Over the years, the programme has supported dozens of startups through technical mentoring, cloud resources and access to Google’s global network.
Google said the latest intake underscores India’s growing position as one of the world’s fastest-growing AI startup ecosystems, with founders increasingly building products that address both domestic and international demand.
As investment in artificial intelligence continues to gather pace, accelerator programmes are becoming an important route for early-stage startups seeking technical expertise, global partnerships and faster commercial scale. The 2026 cohort will offer an early indication of where India’s next wave of AI innovation is heading.
