Perplexity Debuts News Alerts on WhatsApp at User-set Timing- First Move Towards Personalising AI
The new feature of Perplexity Whatsapp Chatbot delivers a list of curated news to the user at a pre-fixed time proactively.

Perplexity enhances its WhatsApp chatbot with an all-new feature that enables users to set a time to get news based on their preferences, including location. The most exciting part of the feature is the proactive message, as the user doesn’t need to ask anything; they’ll get the news at a fixed time without any intervention or query. 

This enhancement by Perplexity brings a layer of proactiveness into the chatbot, which holds the potential to pave the way for more interesting things in the future, including an agent that is capable of some self-autonomy and following a schedule to perform actions. Howsoever small it might seem, it holds immense value for the industry as it will gradually introduce AI into consumer behaviour, which will be able to seek it now and then through these small steps. 

Capitalising on News 

Enabling a curated list of news directly over WhatsApp will help the company capitalize on the news audience. It will enable the company to explore an edge over the other AI models in the market. This would also place the model in the equivalent of a browser, challenging the conventional tasks performed by a browser with an intelligent edge over all the tasks, making it more centric and personalized. 

No Stress of Filtering 

With AI giving users a curated list of news, they no longer need to devote time to filtering the long list of news. The model will generate a curated and preset list of news for the users.  It will deliver real convenience to the people over their WhatsApp, enriching users' AI experience over time.
