Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Kerala’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram, has instated an AI-powered robot at its reception desk to grace the job of a receptionist and a constant support to the children in the school.
Scope of Work
The robot will be entrusted with responsibilities like guiding the school visitors, allocating appointments to parents, recording complaints, and providing support to the children. It has got to do purely guiding and greeting work to make the tasks more streamlined and efficient.
A Great Asset for Schools
The robot has been entrusted with the capabilities to talk to new people and save their names and data. This enables the robot to exhibit human-like warmness in conversations and also recognize people upon meeting later.
Additionally, it can also act as an emotional and mental support for the children.
Other interesting features
Other interesting features of the robot include class monitoring, activity recognition, incident prevention & emotion detection are other major features that the AI Robot exhibits.
Development
The robot has been developed by the AI lab students of the school in under three months, with the guidance of Sam S. Sivan, managing director of Techosa Robotics Research and Development, who leads the school’s robotics and AI wing.
Public Floating
The robot will be publicly floated on Saturday morning by Mr R. Suresh Mohan, chief sevak, Chinmaya Educational, Cultural, and Charitable Trust.
