In a significant move to position itself at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI), Saudi Arabia has announced a strategic partnership with U.S. tech giant NVIDIA. The collaboration aims to develop advanced AI infrastructure, including the construction of AI factories, to propel the Kingdom into a new era of technological innovation.

Building the Future of AI

The partnership was unveiled during a state visit involving U.S. President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. NVIDIA's founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, emphasised the importance of AI as a foundational infrastructure, akin to electricity and the internet. He stated, "Together with HUMAIN, we are building AI infrastructure for the people and companies of Saudi Arabia to realise the bold vision of the Kingdom."

The collaboration encompasses several key initiatives:

AI Factories: HUMAIN, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund focused on AI, plans to invest in building AI factories with a projected capacity of up to 500 megawatts. These facilities will be powered by several hundred thousand of NVIDIA’s advanced GPUs over the next five years. The initial phase includes deploying 18,000 NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell AI supercomputers with NVIDIA InfiniBand networking.

Omniverse Cloud Deployment: HUMAIN will implement the country’s first NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud to simulate and test physical AI solutions using digital twins.

Developer Training: NVIDIA will enhance the nation’s computing ecosystem by training thousands of developers in accelerated computing and AI to tackle complex challenges.

SDAIA Collaboration: In partnership with the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA), up to 5,000 Blackwell GPUs will be deployed for a sovereign AI factory. This initiative aims to enable smart city solutions and train government and university scientists and engineers in developing and deploying models for physical and agentic AI.

Aramco Digital Engagement: Aramco Digital will develop AI computing infrastructure, collaborate with NVIDIA’s startup ecosystem, establish AI enterprise platforms, and create an engineering and robotics center of excellence utilizing NVIDIA platforms.

Advancing Vision 2030

Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Alghamdi, president of SDAIA, remarked, "This partnership with NVIDIA reflects SDAIA’s commitment to harnessing and advancing the potential of data and AI through continuous innovation." He highlighted that this collaboration is a significant step toward positioning the Kingdom as a leader among data- and AI-driven economies, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

The initiatives are expected to revolutionize industries such as energy, manufacturing, and logistics by developing and deploying innovative solutions powered by AI.
