Samsung’s vision for the future of mobile technology is quickly taking shape. After months of speculation and leaks, the company has officially confirmed that its first-ever tri-fold smartphone is on track for a commercial release by the end of 2025. The announcement was reiterated during the company’s Q2 2025 earnings call, where it also revealed plans to launch a new extended reality (XR) device within the same timeframe.

At the Galaxy Unpacked event held last month, Minseok Kang, vice president and head of smartphone product planning at Samsung, had hinted that a tri-fold device was already in development. If everything aligns as planned, the tri-fold phone could make its commercial debut before the year wraps up.

What We Know So Far

Although Samsung has yet to officially unveil the full specifications of the tri-fold device, several leaks and rumours have begun to paint a clearer picture. The upcoming phone is expected to run on the same high-end chipset powering the Galaxy S25 series. It could come equipped with 16 GB of RAM, promising smooth multitasking and robust performance.

In terms of design, the device might feature a blend of aluminium and titanium materials, potentially offering a sturdy yet sleek form factor. Powering the phone is likely to be a standard battery, with 25W fast charging support—a modest choice given the phone’s ambitious design.
