Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, has spotlighted the Northeast region, particularly Assam, as a burgeoning hub for energy and semiconductor industries, signalling a transformative phase in India's economic development. Addressing the 'Advantage Assam 2.0' Investment and Infrastructure Summit in Guwahati, PM Modi highlighted Assam's remarkable economic growth.
He noted that the state's economy has doubled from approximately ₹2.75 lakh crore in 2018 to ₹6 lakh crore in 2024, attributing this progress to the 'double-engine' governance model that combines efforts of both state and central governments.
