Apple is reportedly developing a more affordable and lightweight version of its Vision Pro headset, potentially named "Vision Air," aiming to launch it between late 2025 and early 2026. The Vision Air is expected to address two major concerns of the original Vision Pro: its hefty price tag and substantial weight. To achieve this, Apple may reduce certain hardware features, such as fewer camera sensors, a lower internal display resolution, a narrower field of view, and the removal of the EyeSight display that shows the user's eyes externally.

Tethered Functionality

Unlike the standalone Vision Pro, the Vision Air might not operate independently. Reports suggest it could require a connection to an iPhone or Mac to function, effectively making it an accessory that leverages the processing power of these devices. Apple's move towards a more accessible headset comes in response to the Vision Pro's limited adoption, attributed to its high cost and weight. By offering a lighter and more affordable alternative, Apple aims to broaden its user base and reinforce the iPhone's central role in its product ecosystem.
