Quick commerce player Blinkit has launched a pilot program to deliver prescription-only medicines in select parts of Bengaluru, marking a significant step in its expansion into the healthtech space. Previously, the platform only offered over-the-counter OTC drugs.

Free Doctor Consultations
As part of the new initiative, Blinkit is also offering free virtual consultations with doctors. Customers can access this feature if they are unable to upload a valid prescription during the ordering process. This move aims to make prescription drug access more seamless and user-friendly.

Strengthening Healthtech
The move comes amid Blinkit’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its presence in the healthcare domain. Earlier this year, the company introduced a 10-minute ambulance service in select areas of Gurugram, indicating its deeper foray into emergency and wellness services.
