In a significant development, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, CEO of Paytm, and Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, met to discuss India’s Fintech ambitions, including scaling UPI, inclusive e-commerce, and digital payments. The meeting primarily focused on expanding India’s payment innovations worldwide, giving Indian innovations a global stage to shine and serve.
The meeting also focused on how ONDC can play a valuable role in India’s ambitions to propel its e-commerce reach to the breadths and corners of the nation. This would potentially enable the local manufacturers and sellers to feel more confident about their prospects in the larger picture of India’s economic ambitions. Additionally, a global stage for innovation and people would ensure higher value addition to India’s fintech sector, enabling a more strategic and effective outlook.

Paytm Leads the Innovation
Paytm, owned by One97 Communications, announced in November that its app now supports international UPI payments, enabling users to transact seamlessly for shopping, dining, and local experiences abroad.

The service is currently enabled in key global destinations, including the UAE, Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan, and Nepal, making Paytm the first Indian fintech app to offer such cross-border UPI functionality.
Paytm Leads In-App Innovations
Paytm has also rolled out a new privacy-focused feature—‘Hide Payment’—allowing users to selectively conceal specific transactions within their app history. Designed in response to rising user demand for greater discretion in digital payments, the feature enhances personal control over transaction visibility without compromising data security or system accessibility.
