Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2 console has ignited a frenzy among fans in Japan, with over 2.2 million eager gamers applying for a chance to pre-order the device. This overwhelming demand has led Nintendo to implement a lottery system for preorders, acknowledging that the initial supply won't meet the massive interest.
At a recent pre-launch event near Tokyo, attendees had the opportunity to experience the Switch 2 firsthand, playing Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bonanza.

The new console boasts a 7.9-inch 1080p touchscreen, HDR support, up to 120 fps gameplay, and 4K TV dock compatibility. Despite the excitement, concerns loom over potential price hikes due to ongoing U.S. tariffs under President Trump's administration, which could impact electronic device costs globally. To combat scalping and ensure fair distribution, Nintendo is taking proactive steps. The company plans to offer limited pre-orders through its official store to subscribers with 12 months of paid Nintendo Switch Online membership and over 50 hours of gameplay. However, due to the unprecedented demand, Nintendo has issued a warning that it cannot guarantee delivery by the launch day of June 5, 2025.
