Making EVs accessible: Ola Electric’s landmark 3,200-store launch

Ola Electric Mobility has announced the opening of 3,200 new stores in a single day, marking a significant step toward expanding its local presence and addressing widespread service-related complaints. This expansion brings the total number of Ola's showrooms and service centres to 4,000, as shared by Ankush Aggarwal, the group head of financial services and retail auto business.

Led by co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal, Ola is aiming to penetrate smaller towns in India while strengthening its after-sales service capabilities. The company emphasised its commitment to making electric vehicle ownership accessible to every household through its direct-to-consumer (D2C) business model, as stated in an exchange filing last week. This large-scale expansion comes in response to a surge in customer dissatisfaction, particularly concerning service and performance. Local media reports revealed that Ola’s service centres had been struggling to manage a monthly influx of approximately 80,000 complaints, highlighting the urgent need for improved infrastructure and customer support.
