“We did a round-table discussion with stakeholders related to the data centre industry on ease of doing business to promote data centres in a big way because undoubtedly, India is the world’s best location to set up data centres,” Goyal said.
India aims to attract major data centre investments
According to Goyal, India could see significant investments in its data centre industry in the coming years. “Nothing less than $200 billion can be seen coming into the data centres industry,” he said, highlighting the scale of opportunity emerging in the sector.
The meeting brought together hyperscalers, international investors and Indian companies exploring investments in data centre infrastructure. Participants pointed to the country’s potential to attract substantial capital as demand for digital infrastructure continues to grow.

Data centres, semiconductors and AI to drive India’s growth
Goyal said the expansion of data centres will form part of a wider technology and manufacturing push that could strengthen India’s economic growth. He identified data centres, semiconductors, artificial intelligence and the expansion of India’s manufacturing base as key areas that could contribute to the country’s long-term economic ambitions.
“These are all elements that will power India’s growth in the years to come and take it to greater heights and help the country achieve a $30 trillion economy by 2047,” he said. India’s growing digital economy, expanding technology ecosystem and increasing demand for computing infrastructure are creating opportunities for both domestic and global companies to invest in data centres.
