In a story that sounds almost too good to be true, two engineering students have turned their shared passion for unmanned aerial systems into a full-fledged defence-tech venture supplying drones to the Indian Army—all in just two months since launch. Apollyon Dynamics, founded by Jayant Khatri from Ajmer and Sourya Choudhury from Kolkata, has already delivered its indigenous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Army units stationed in Jammu, Chandimandir, Panagarh in West Bengal, and Arunachal Pradesh. What started as a DIY prototype effort inside a college hostel room is now actively shaping India’s frontline drone capabilities.

A Startup Born from Passion
The origins of Apollyon Dynamics date back to April this year, when the duo—Jayant, a mechanical engineering student, and Sourya, an electronics engineering student—decided to act on their mutual enthusiasm for robotics and aerial systems. By mid-May, they officially incorporated the company and immediately dove into developing their flagship products—kamikaze drones, advanced surveillance units, and payload delivery platforms—all designed for strategic military applications. Thanks to institutional backing from Sanket Goel, Dean of Research and Innovation at BITS Pilani Hyderabad, the team transitioned from makeshift workbenches to a sophisticated laboratory space within the institute.
Combat-Ready Tech, Straight from Campus
Now operating from this state-of-the-art facility, Apollyon Dynamics is building rugged, modular, and highly agile drones that are custom-configured for different mission profiles. “Each of our drones is purpose-built to meet unique field demands—be it surveillance, tactical payload delivery, or precision strikes,” the founders said.
Among the startup’s offerings, a trainer UAV has gained particular popularity among Army units. Valued for its intuitive controls and robust build, this drone is accompanied by full-scale training programs conducted by the team to help soldiers become confident drone pilots—even without prior experience. Apollyon’s current UAV lineup includes high-speed kamikaze drones that can cruise at over 300 km/h and deliver precision payloads of up to 1 kg. These systems have already been deployed in live Army environments and are being hailed for their performance and accuracy.

Future Plans
Apollyon Dynamics is already working on next-generation vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) platforms and fixed-wing systems aimed at improving operational flexibility and extending mission reach. These additions are expected to further elevate the capabilities of India’s tactical drone infrastructure.
Apollyon Dynamics’ journey from a college hostel to the defence frontlines is more than just a startup story—it’s a reflection of what’s possible when academia, innovation, and national need intersect.
