Meta is reportedly preparing to launch an advanced version of its Ray-Ban smart glasses, which will feature an integrated display, during its highly anticipated Connect event on September 17. The new eyewear is said to be branded under “Meta | Ray-Ban Display”, according to a report. The news comes after a promotional video briefly surfaced on Meta’s official YouTube channel, offering a glimpse of the device along with a wristband accessory designed to control its functions.

AI-Powered Heads-Up Display

The video reportedly showcased a heads-up display (HUD) positioned on the right lens, providing users with real-time access to Meta AI features such as translation, navigation, and other interactive tasks. This integration hints at Meta’s ambition to enhance user experiences by combining augmented reality with artificial intelligence for seamless interactions.

Gesture Controls via Wristband Accessory

In addition to the glasses, the clip highlighted a wristband designed to complement the device’s functionality. The wristband is believed to employ surface electromyography (sEMG) technology to read signals from muscle movements, allowing users to control the glasses through hand gestures. This innovation points to a more intuitive and immersive way of interacting with wearable devices.

Possible Expansion With Oakley-Branded Variant

Interestingly, the promotional clip also teased a new Oakley-branded variant featuring a central camera, expanding the product lineup beyond Ray-Ban. Although the video was later removed, these hints indicate that Meta is planning a broader wearable strategy with multiple styles and capabilities aimed at enhancing AR-driven experiences.

With the Connect event just around the corner, Meta’s new Ray-Ban smart glasses are poised to create waves in the wearable tech space, blending cutting-edge AI with intuitive controls. This development could mark a significant step toward the next generation of connected, gesture-controlled eyewear.
