State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) announces its audited results for the year ended on 31st March 2025, showing a Profit After Tax (PAT) positive by ₹ 280 cr as compared to -₹ 849 cr in the Q4 of the last year. It marks the first back-to-back profitable quarters after showing a ₹ 262 cr profit in Q3.
Not only profits, but the company also reported a decline in losses. Its losses declined by 58 percent to ₹2,247 crore in FY-25 from ₹5,370 crore in FY-24. The company also reported net revenue of operating revenue of FY-25 ₹20,841 cr from ₹19,330 cr in FY-24, showing a growth of 7.8 percent from the previous year.
Vision of Self-Reliance
On this remarkable achievement, Hon’ble Minister for Communications Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia said, "This is a landmark moment in BSNL’s journey. For the first time in 18 years, BSNL has posted consecutive quarterly net profits — not just operating profits or positive EBITDA margins, but actual net profits. In Q3 of FY 2024–25, BSNL reported a net profit of ₹262 crore.”

Underlining the faith people have shown in the state-run telco, he adds, “I am proud to share with every citizen of the country that this momentum has not only sustained but strengthened, with BSNL registering a net profit of ₹280 crores in the January–March quarter.” Lastly, he says that the achievement is a powerful testament to the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s steadfast resolve and transformative vision for a self-reliant and digitally empowered India.
Decline in Expenditure
The company’s total expenditure in FY 25 is down to ₹ 25,841 cr, which is a decline of roughly 3 percent from ₹26,673 crore in FY 24. The company's fundamentals, like expenditure, EBITDA, PAT, revenue, and other important metrics, paint an encouraging picture of the prospects of company. Confidently, the year ahead is expected to bring strong revenue growth and a steady drop in operating costs—key drivers of sustained profitability.
