Sh. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Telecommunications and Development of North Eastern Region, praises India’s efforts towards establishing a connected nation as he inaugurates the Bharat Telecom Expo 2025 in Delhi. He says, ” We’re not just connecting villages; we’re connecting futures. Every tower we raise, every byte we transmit, brings 1.4 billion people closer to opportunity,” in his inaugural address at the expo.
He highlights India’s remarkable progress in expanding 5G services nationwide. He says, "In just 22 months, we connected 99% of our villages with 5G and brought 82% of our population onto the network, deploying 470,000 towers—this is not evolution; it is a telecom revolution." He underlines India’s efforts towards equipping its network infrastructure with the latest and state-of-the-art equipment to support seamless and best-in-class services.
Cross-sectoral Impact
The minister further emphasized that the latest network infrastructure being pursued by the nation aims to support various initiatives of the nation, ranging from healthcare to education, governance, and other economic opportunities. He intended to hint at the pivotal role that telecom infrastructure plays in today’s digital age and India’s remarkable potential to support the digital revolution unfolding across the geography.
The minister famously calls the network infrastructure- the digital highway carrying the nation’s stride towards a robust digital infrastructure.

India’s Leading Position
The minister highlighted India’s remarkable emergence as a global digital leader, crediting the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this transformation. He noted that India has not only bridged the gap with the world in technologies like 4G and 5G but is now at the forefront, driven by bold reforms and continuous innovation. Shri Scindia emphasized the pivotal role of the telecom sector in this transformation, tracing the country's journey from the costly and limited mobile access of the 1990s to becoming the world’s second-largest telecom market and the most affordable data provider.
