Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-owned telecom company, launched its 5G services, named BSNL Quantum 5G (Q-5G), in the Telangana circle, along with some other connectivity solutions. The BSNL Q-5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) is an indigenously developed service for enterprises, gated communities, and individual homes to avail a SIM-less service that is 100 percent secure and reliable for internet connectivity.

Among other connectivity services launched along with it are the Micro Data Center and International Gateway in Hyderabad. “Hyderabad’s tech-savvy ecosystem makes it the perfect launchpad for our next-generation access portfolio. It has been built on BSNL’s direct-to-device platform, a fully indigenous stack core with design and integration by Indian vendors under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ program,” said A. Robert J. Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL.

What is BSNL Quantum 5G (Q-5G)?

The state-run telecom has given this name to its all-new flagship 5G service based on the suggestions received by the people in a digital poll announced a few days back. “Because of you, we now have a name that reflects the power, speed, and future of BSNL's 5G network,” the company writes in a post on X.

BSNL has also debuted its Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service in select Indian circles. Designed specifically for businesses and enterprises, it functions as a 5 G-powered internet leased line rather than a consumer offering. BSNL claims it is the first 5G FWA solution in India that operates without the need for a SIM card or physical wiring. The aid arrangement covers around 85 percent of Hyderabad households under the existing BSNL tower grid with no trenching or fiber pull required.

Further, the company plans to expand its services in cities like Bengaluru, Pondicherry, Visakhapatnam, Pune, Chandigarh, and Gwalior by September 2025.

International Gateway for Quality Calls

The company has also set up an international gateway in the city of Hyderabad for connecting domestic telecom networks to international telecom networks for quality voice, SMS, and data communications, ensuring a seamless internet experience.

The company is also working towards this goal as another area of technology development that has been working on 6G with government support, where each mobile phone will act as an antenna, added Mr. Ravi.
