VVDN-Ericsson Plant: Ensuring a Global Stage
Emphasizing the transformative impact of global technology partnerships on India's telecom sector, the Union Minister noted that investments from companies such as Ericsson, Apple, Google, and Qualcomm extend beyond financial contributions. “They bring cutting-edge technology, world-class production standards, and extensive training capabilities for our engineers,” he said, adding that such collaborations have been instrumental in positioning Indian talent on the global stage.
He adds, “This is where global technology converges with Indian ingenuity. Under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, the ‘Make in India’ mission is evolving into a ‘Make for the World’ movement.”
VVDN-Ericsson Plant: India’s Entrance in Global Supply Chain
The facility, developed jointly by Ericsson and VVDN Technologies, is Ericsson’s first in India to manufacture passive antennas for global markets. Shipments are set to begin in July 2025. Over 50% of the passive antennas for the domestic market will be locally produced here, meeting stringent global and Indian standards, underscoring India’s growing role as a trusted hub for manufacturing and innovation.
He says, “As India transitions from its Amrit Kaal to its Shatabdi Kaal over the next two decades, this journey will not only transform India, but through India, help transform the world,” highlighting India’s growing role in the global supply chain.
Policy Leading Growth
The minister also highlighted India’s policy-driven telecom transformation, crediting the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for attracting ₹4,000 crore in investments, generating ₹80,000 crore in output, and creating over 34,000 jobs. Liberal FDI norms and sectoral reforms have brought in over USD 39 billion since 2000, with telecom now contributing nearly 7% to GDP.
