Tata's Nelco partners with Eutelsat to launch OneWeb LEO satellite internet, offering nationwide, secure connectivity.

Tata Group’s satellite communication arm, Nelco Limited, has entered into a strategic partnership with global satellite operator Eutelsat to introduce OneWeb’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity services in India. The initiative aims to provide secure, high-speed, and low-latency internet access across land, sea, and air, covering the entire Indian landmass, territorial waters, and even the most remote corners of the country.

Nationwide Coverage for Critical and Commercial Use

The collaboration is designed to serve both government and enterprise clients, ensuring reliable connectivity in areas where traditional networks fail to reach. From boosting national security to powering offshore operations and enabling rural digitisation, the service promises to bridge critical communication gaps. Nelco has confirmed its readiness to roll out these services as soon as OneWeb’s LEO satellite network becomes commercially operational in India.

Nelco Limited, a pioneer in India’s satellite communication sector, is a subsidiary of Tata Power, part of the $116 billion Tata Group. Established in 1940 as an electronics manufacturer, Nelco has evolved into a leading provider of satellite communication solutions, most notably known for its Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) services. The partnership with Eutelsat marks a significant step forward in its journey, signaling Tata’s ambitions to play a decisive role in the nation’s next phase of digital transformation.
