The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) have signed a five-year agreement to strengthen collaboration in cybersecurity, digital forensics and advanced technology research.

According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the agreement aims to improve cyber resilience across UIDAI’s digital infrastructure that supports India’s Aadhaar-based digital identity ecosystem.

Officials said the partnership will create a structured framework for research, technical support, capacity building and forensic expertise linked to digital public infrastructure.

Focus on Cybersecurity, AI and Digital Forensics

The collaboration will operate across six strategic areas: academic and professional development, information security, forensic infrastructure, cybersecurity support, technical advisory and research and outreach initiatives.

The two institutions will also work jointly on emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, deepfake detection and cryptography. The agreement includes plans for cybersecurity audits, forensic research and skill-building programmes.

“The partnership is expected to strengthen institutional capabilities amid rising concerns over cyber threats, online fraud and digital identity protection,” said officials.

“The collaboration would enhance the security and resilience of India’s digital public infrastructure and add stronger safeguards for digital identity systems.”
