Microsoft has announced that its new data centre in Hyderabad is now live, allowing organisations in India to run eligible Microsoft Cloud services and workloads locally. The facility has been built to support the growing demand for cloud computing and AI, while giving businesses more options to modernise critical systems and build new digital services.
With the Hyderabad data centre now generally available, Microsoft operates four cloud regions in India. The company already has cloud facilities in Pune, Chennai and Mumbai. The new Hyderabad facility is connected to Microsoft’s global cloud infrastructure, which includes more than 500 data centres across 80 regions in 34 countries.

Microsoft expands cloud infrastructure in India
The Hyderabad data centre is part of Microsoft’s wider investment in India’s digital infrastructure. The company has committed more than $20 billion to the country, covering investments in cloud and AI infrastructure, skilling programmes and its ongoing operations.
This includes Microsoft’s previously announced $17.5 billion investment between 2026 and 2029. The investment is aimed at strengthening India’s cloud and AI infrastructure and supporting the country’s growing digital economy.
The new facility also gives Indian organisations greater access to Microsoft Cloud services from within the country. Local cloud infrastructure can help businesses modernise existing IT systems and develop new applications and digital services while supporting their growing cloud and AI requirements.
Hyderabad becomes an important cloud and AI hub
The launch comes as demand for AI and cloud computing continues to increase in India. Businesses across sectors are adopting AI tools, cloud platforms and data-driven applications, creating a need for more computing capacity and locally available infrastructure.
