Uber is establishing its first AI data centre in India through a strategic partnership with the Adani Group. This marks a major expansion of its technology infrastructure in India, one of the fastest-growing markets.
The facility is slated to go live by year-end, enabling the ride-hailing giant to test and deploy technology at scale from India for its global operations.
The collaboration underscores Uber’s commitment to deepen its technological footprint in the region while leveraging India as a hub for innovation and global service delivery.

Data Centre to Support Global Tech Operations
This Uber India data centre will serve as an important infrastructure component in Uber’s broader strategy to expand its technology and engineering footprint across India.
Khosrowshahi stated that the investment will help Uber “build at scale, from India, for the world.” The facility will support Uber’s global technology operations and product deployments originating from India.
The move comes as Uber continues to deploy AI across its safety systems, ranging from services like Uber for Teens, which allows teenagers to book rides under parental oversight, to driver compliance tools.
The company is shifting from reactive to predictive safety measures while expanding police integrations across Indian states.
During his visit to India, Uber’s Chief Executive Officer, Dara Khosrowshahi, also met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to discuss the company’s investment roadmap for India and the potential role of mobility platforms in the country’s long-term economic development.

Strategic Expansion in a Booming Market
India has become Uber’s third-largest market globally by trip volume, after only the United States and Brazil. The company is now expanding beyond individual passenger services to capture the corporate transportation sector. Uber estimates the corporate transportation market in India could reach $13 billion by 2030.
Uber India’s partnership for a data centre is built upon an existing pact between the company and the Adani Group. In 2024, both companies announced a collaboration to integrate Uber’s electric-vehicle services into the Adani One platform and to expand mobility offerings across Adani-operated airports.
The Adani Group’s involvement in the data centre reflects the conglomerate’s rapidly expanding ambitions in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital infrastructure.
The move further reflects rising investments by global technology firms in India’s artificial intelligence, cloud and digital infrastructure ecosystem, driven by growing demand for localised computing capacity and an increasing focus on data sovereignty.
