Chhattisgarh has introduced 24×7 Smart PDS grain ATMs in Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur, allowing eligible ration card holders to collect their monthly rice quota at any time of the day.
The new system uses biometric authentication to verify beneficiaries before dispensing food grains. It is designed to make ration distribution more convenient and reduce the need to visit ration shops during fixed working hours.

Under the Smart PDS system, beneficiaries can collect their entitled food grains seven days a week. This gives families more flexibility, especially those who may not be able to visit ration shops during regular distribution hours. The state government said the grain ATMs are part of its efforts to modernise the public distribution system and make the delivery of food grains more efficient. The aim is to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive their full food entitlement without unnecessary delays or inconvenience.
The initiative is also linked to the One Nation One Ration Card system. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said eligible beneficiaries from other states will also be able to access ration through the system, subject to the applicable rules.
