Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal is getting ready to open pre-orders for Temple, his new health and wellness wearable that takes a very different approach to tracking the body. Pre-orders for the first batch, called Temple Batch 01, will begin on November 1, Goyal said in a post on X.

Unlike conventional fitness trackers, Temple is designed to sit on the sides of the forehead and use light-based sensors to monitor changes in blood flow to the brain. The devices will be made only after an order is placed. Goyal said buyers can expect to receive their Temple unit within three months of ordering, while the first shipments are expected to begin in early 2027. The company has not yet revealed the price of Temple in India or how many devices will be available in the first batch.

How does Temple work?

Temple is designed to be worn around the forehead rather than on the wrist. Its sensors use light to track changes in blood flow to the brain over time. Goyal calls this measurement “BrainFlow”, positioning it as one of the key signals that Temple will use to understand a user’s condition.

The wearable is also expected to generate an Entropy score ranging from 1 to 250. The score is intended to provide a broader picture of the load placed on the body by considering factors such as rest, exercise, mental stress and caffeine consumption.

Temple’s team has also been studying whether factors such as posture and gravity can influence blood circulation to the brain. However, several details about the product remain under wraps. The company has yet to provide complete information about battery life, the companion app and the full list of health and wellness metrics that Temple will eventually offer.

What colours will Temple be available in?

Temple has been associated with six finishes so far: True Gold, Rose Gold, Black Mirror, Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk. Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk are being positioned as limited-edition finishes. It is not yet clear which of these options will be available when Temple Batch 01 opens for pre-orders.

The design and positioning also set Temple apart from conventional smartwatches and fitness bands. Goyal is presenting it primarily as a wellness device, rather than a medical device intended for clinical use.

Deepinder Goyal raises $54 million for Temple

Goyal has already attracted substantial investor interest in the Temple project. In February 2026, he raised $54 million for Temple, giving the company a valuation of nearly $190 million. The funding round included Steadview Capital, Peak XV Partners, InfoEdge Ventures and Dharana Capital, along with individual investors and members of Temple’s team. The funding gives the project significant backing as it moves from development towards its first consumer devices.

For now, the biggest question is whether Temple’s unusual forehead-based design and focus on brain-related signals can offer something meaningfully different from the growing range of watches, rings and bands already tracking sleep, exercise and stress.
