Google has launched a new artificial intelligence-powered cybersecurity platform called AI Threat Defence, expanding its push into enterprise security amid rising cyber risks linked to generative AI.
The platform is designed to help organisations detect, analyse and respond to cyber threats in real time. The move places Google in direct competition with AI security offerings such as Anthropic’s Mythos and OpenAI’s Daybreak.
Google said the platform combines its Gemini AI models with cloud security and threat intelligence systems to automate the identification of suspicious activity, malware behaviour and advanced cyberattacks. The solution is targeted at enterprises, governments and operators of critical infrastructure.

Google Targets Growing AI Cybersecurity Market
The launch comes as technology companies increase investment in AI-led cybersecurity tools amid growing concerns about ransomware, phishing campaigns and AI-generated attacks.
Google said AI Threat Defence can scan large datasets, detect anomalies and help security teams respond faster to threats. The company added that the platform aims to reduce manual investigation time and improve visibility across networks, cloud systems and enterprise applications.
Industry analysts expect the market for AI cybersecurity tools to expand rapidly as businesses adopt generative AI technologies across operations.

Competition Intensifies Among AI Firms
The launch also highlights rising competition among major AI companies seeking to dominate the enterprise security segment.
Anthropic and OpenAI have recently expanded their own AI-focused cybersecurity capabilities, increasing pressure on technology firms to offer integrated security and automation solutions.
Google has not disclosed pricing details for AI Threat Defence but confirmed that the platform will integrate with its broader cloud and enterprise security services portfolio.
The development further strengthens Google’s position in the growing AI infrastructure and enterprise technology market, where demand for automated cyber defence systems continues to rise.
