Sarvam AI has introduced “Chanakya”, a new platform built for high-security and mission-critical environments where data control and reliability are paramount. Positioned as a solution for sectors that cannot afford data exposure, Chanakya is designed to operate beyond conventional cloud-based AI systems. It can be deployed on-premise or within air-gapped environments – systems that remain completely isolated from the internet. This makes it particularly suited for defence, government operations, critical infrastructure, and healthcare, where safeguarding sensitive information is essential.

At its core, Chanakya is engineered to handle complex, real-world use cases. The platform supports multiple data formats, including text, images, and structured datasets, enabling it to process and analyse diverse inputs. It also allows for advanced workflows, including AI agents capable of executing multi-step tasks, making it far more than a traditional chatbot or language model.

Rather than serving as a standalone tool, Chanakya is positioned as a full-stack AI system that can assist in decision-making, operational workflows, and analytical processes in high-stakes settings.

Founded in 2023 by Vivek Raghavan, Pratyush Kumar, and Ankush Sabharwal, Sarvam AI has rapidly gained visibility in India’s AI ecosystem. The company initially drew attention for developing large language models tailored to Indian languages and datasets, including Sarvam-30B and Sarvam-105 B. These efforts are part of a broader push to build AI systems that reflect India’s linguistic and cultural diversity, alongside advancements in speech, vision, and multilingual technologies. With Chanakya, the company is moving into what it describes as “high-trust” AI environments, spaces where security, accountability, and consistent performance are not optional but critical requirements.
