Amazon is launching AI tools to speed up TV and film production, with a closed beta set for March. The initiative aims to streamline workflows while keeping humans in creative control.

Amazon is rolling out artificial intelligence tools to cut costs and accelerate the making of television shows and movies.

The media giant is testing its new system with selected partners starting in March, with results expected by May. The move reflects growing use of AI in media production and comes amid industry concerns about the ongoing shifts and creative impact.

AI Studio Set to Channelise Creative Workflows

A dedicated unit within Amazon’s MGM Studio, led by veteran executive Albert Cheng, is working on the plan. The group is building AI systems to help with tasks such as maintaining character continuity across scenes and integrating with established creative tools.

The AI initiative will begin with a closed beta in March, inviting outside industry partners to test the early tools. The project operates under the company’s “two pizza team” philosophy, keeping the core team small to promote agility.

Strategic Push Ahead of Cost Pressures

The push for AI comes as studios face rising production costs, limiting the number of films and series they can finance. Amazon, with its AI systems, aim to streamline production workflows and eliminate bottlenecks that can slow down creative work.

The company is also leaning on its cloud arm, Amazon Web Services and plans to work with multiple language model providers to broaden technical capabilities. The new tools are part of a broader trend among tech and media firms to adopt machine learning and generative systems to manage costs and competition.
