Bhagwati Products Gets MeitY Approval for Rs 1,015 Crore Component Projects

Bhagwati Products gets MeitY approval for Rs 1,015 crore ECMS projects in display manufacturing and precision moulding, boosting electronics production.

Bhagwati Products has received approval from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for two projects under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), involving a combined investment of Rs 1,015 crore. The electronics manufacturer is expanding its focus on component manufacturing as it looks to strengthen its presence in India’s electronics supply chain.

The company will invest Rs 450 crore in display manufacturing and Rs 565 crore in precision moulding, co-founder Rahul Sharma said.

The Display Manufacturing Project

The display manufacturing project will be carried out through TXD India Technology, in which Bhagwati Products recently acquired a 51% stake. The acquisition has also received approval under Press Note 3.

TXD India Technology will manufacture mobile phone displays at its existing facility in Bawal, Rewari, Haryana. The plant will initially have the capacity to produce 1.5 million displays a month. Bhagwati Products plans to increase this to 3–4 million displays a month and later expand into automotive displays.

The Moulding Project

The second project, with an investment of Rs 565 crore, will focus on precision moulding at Bhagwati Products’ facility in Greater Noida. Both projects are expected to begin production this year. The new projects are also expected to create additional jobs. With the expansion, Bhagwati Products’ overall workforce is expected to cross 10,000 employees.
