Assam government has announced a comprehensive Rs 25,000 crore scheme aimed at incentivising electronics manufacturing within the state in a significant move to bolster its industrial landscape. Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that a substantial portion of this funding is dedicated to encouraging component manufacturers, signalling the state’s commitment to developing a robust electronics manufacturing ecosystem.

The newly unveiled scheme is designed to attract investments in key areas such as display modules, printed circuit board assemblies, and lithium cell enclosures. A notable highlight of Assam’s industrial advancement is the progress of the Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test OSAT facility in Jagiroad. Projected to produce 48 million chips per day, this facility is poised to surpass similar projects in other regions, including the Semiconductor Fabrication Facility in Gujarat.The development of this semiconductor unit not only signifies technological progress but also promises substantial employment opportunities, contributing to the socio-economic growth of the region.
