Razorpay has announced the integration of Apple Pay as a payment option, enabling Indian merchants to accept international payments seamlessly. The company announced that it is the first online payment aggregator in India to support cross-border transactions through Apple Pay.

With this new feature, Razorpay will facilitate Apple Pay transactions for popular brands such as Mokobara, Akasa Air, Pernia’s Pop Up Shop, Sabyasachi, Nish Hair, and the House of Masaba. This development is a major step in expanding global payment options for Indian businesses.

Apple Pay’s Growing Popularity

Apple Pay, which boasts over 500 million users globally, is widely accepted by more than 90 per cent of merchants in the United States. Razorpay’s integration of this payment solution will allow Indian merchants to leverage this established network and streamline international transactions. According to Razorpay, customers using Apple Pay can now complete purchases effortlessly with a single click. Biometric authentication through Face ID or Touch ID eliminates the need to enter card details, such as CVV or OTP, making checkout faster and more secure.

Enhanced Conversion & Growth Opportunities

Early pilot programmes using Apple Pay have demonstrated a 58 per cent increase in conversion rates, a 45 per cent faster checkout experience, and a 12 per cent rise in average order value among users. These results highlight how seamless payment methods can directly boost sales and customer satisfaction.

Shashank Kumar, managing director and co-founder of Razorpay, stated, “As Indian businesses expand across borders, this launch ensures they have every advantage to build global customer trust, reduce transaction friction, and accelerate growth.”

Compliance & Expansion into New Markets

Apple Pay on Razorpay is available for eligible Indian merchants onboarding customers in supported regions, and it complies fully with India’s cross-border payment regulations. This announcement follows Razorpay’s international expansion efforts. Earlier this year in March, the company entered the Singapore market, marking its second overseas venture after Malaysia three years prior. Razorpay’s payment gateway, cross-border transaction solutions, and financial analytics are now available to Singaporean businesses.

The expansion into Southeast Asia builds on Razorpay’s strategic focus in the region. In February 2022, Razorpay acquired a majority stake in Malaysia-based fintech Curlec and launched its first international payment gateway under the Curlec brand in July 2023.
