The Bengaluru Metro is set to expand its operational network to 175 kilometers by 2026, enhancing urban connectivity and public transportation options across the city.
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited BMRCL highlighted the ambitious expansion plans and emphasized the metro’s role in transforming urban mobility and its efforts to align with global standards for public transportation.
Currently, the Bengaluru Metro operates 73 kilometers of its network. With the completion of several ongoing projects, including the much-anticipated stretches of Phase 2, this figure is expected to increase significantly to 175 kilometers. The expanded network will connect more neighborhoods, reduce commute times, and alleviate traffic congestion in the city. The Metro expansion is part of a broader urban mobility initiative, integrating Metro rail services with other modes of public transport to offer seamless travel experiences for citizens. This holistic approach to urban planning is expected to position Bengaluru as a model for sustainable and efficient urban transportation systems.
