Accel has partnered with Google’s AI Futures Fund to launch the Atoms AI Cohort 2026, a global initiative aimed at accelerating India’s emerging artificial intelligence (AI) startups. The programme marks one of Google’s most significant early-stage AI efforts in India and underscores the country’s growing influence in the global AI ecosystem.

Under the partnership, the two organisations will jointly support early-stage startups building cutting-edge AI products, combining Accel’s track record in backing high-growth companies with Google’s research, infrastructure, and technical leadership. Selected founders will gain early access to Google’s Gemini and DeepMind models, along with the resources needed to build for global markets from day one.

Capital, Technical Depth, & Infrastructure

Each startup chosen for the 2026 cohort will receive up to USD 2 million in joint funding from Accel and the AI Futures Fund. In addition, companies will be eligible for up to USD 350,000 in compute credits across Google Cloud, Gemini, and DeepMind platforms—support designed to give founders both the financial and computational capacity to build ambitious AI products early in their journey.

According to Accel, the collaboration aims to combine capital, deep technical expertise, and early conviction to help Indian entrepreneurs develop AI-led solutions for both domestic and global users. The programme will offer one-on-one mentorship from Accel partners and Google’s technical leads, as well as opportunities to work with teams across Google Labs and DeepMind. Startups will also join a global community of founders and gain visibility through Accel and Google’s international networks.

Focus Areas & Eligibility

Atoms AI Cohort 2026 will support founders working in areas such as next-generation coding tools, productivity platforms, creative workflows, and entertainment—all driven by AI. The goal is to back builders who are redefining how people work, create, and interact with technology.

The programme is open to Indian and Indian-origin founders developing AI-first products for users in India or international markets. Applications are live on Accel’s website and will remain open until January 26, 2026. The cohort begins in February 2026. Applicants who submitted between September and November 2025 will automatically be considered.

Notably, the application process itself is powered by Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro model, streamlining form-filling and reducing friction for founders applying to the programme.
