Uttarakhand has been awarded the ‘Leader’ status in the Government of India’s States’ Startup Ecosystem Ranking (5th Edition). The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), a part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, released the ranking as part of National Startup Day celebrations.
A certificate of appreciation was presented to the state’s industries department to mark the achievement. The recognition places Uttarakhand’s startup ecosystem among the stronger performers nationally.

Ranking Boosts Uttarakhand’s Startup Profile
The DPIIT ranking evaluates states on the strength of their startup ecosystems, including regulatory reform, innovation policy and ecosystem support. Uttarakhand’s elevation to Leader status signals progress in building a conducive environment for early-stage ventures.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the recognition reflects “favourable policies, simple processes and a strong ecosystem” that have helped connect innovation, entrepreneurship and youth with opportunities.
Government officials have credited the collective efforts of entrepreneurs and policymakers for the achievement. The Uttarakhand government is actively promoting startups, simplifying procedures and encouraging investment.
