India’s Republic Day parade in New Delhi will feature an unexpected technological highlight this year: rifle-mounted robotic dogs. Ahead of the January 26 celebrations, videos showing the four-legged machines marching alongside soldiers and armoured vehicles at Kartavya Path have gone viral, sparking widespread curiosity among onlookers and defence observers.
Designed to operate across rough and uneven terrain, the robotic systems stood out during rehearsals as they demonstrated agile movements such as stepping, turning and maintaining balance while moving in formation. Military vehicles and troops could be seen in the background, underscoring the Army’s growing focus on integrating advanced technology into operational settings.

According to India Today, the Indian Army has already inducted around 100 of these robotic mules, formally known as Multi Utility Legged Equipment (MULEs), into active service. The platforms are intended to support logistics, surveillance and high-risk missions in challenging environments where human deployment may be difficult or unsafe.
Republic Day 2026
India will mark its 77th Republic Day on January 26, commemorating the day in 1950 when the Constitution of India came into force and the nation formally became a sovereign republic. This year’s celebrations will also coincide with 150 years of Vande Mataram, the national song that emerged as a powerful symbol during India’s struggle for independence.
