GPT-5 Launch: More Power, More Flexibility
Alongside these remarks, OpenAI unveiled GPT-5, its most advanced AI model yet, available in three sizes via API — gpt-5, gpt-5-mini, and gpt-5-nano. The company says the variations will allow developers to balance performance, cost, and response speed according to their needs. In ChatGPT, GPT-5 operates through a mix of reasoning, non-reasoning, and router models. However, in the API platform, GPT-5 refers specifically to the reasoning model used for maximum performance. OpenAI clarified that the minimal reasoning model offered to developers is different from the non-reasoning version in ChatGPT, which is available as gpt-5-chat-latest.
