Tata Electronics will sign 16 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with global and Indian companies at SEMICON India 2026.
The company is expanding the supplier network supporting its semiconductor manufacturing projects in Gujarat and Assam.
The agreements cover different parts of the semiconductor value chain, with partners from Europe, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, India and other markets. Tata Electronics CEO Randhir Thakur announced the planned agreements while addressing the opening session of SEMICON India 2026.

Tata Electronics Lines Up Partners Across Semiconductor Value Chain
The planned partnerships include Nexperia and BESI from Europe; JSR, Fujifilm, Sumitomo, Sojitz and Ajinomoto from Japan; Kelington from Malaysia; and Ascendas and First Space from Singapore. Indian partners include L&T Semiconductors, Inox Air Products, Semiconductor Laboratory and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya.
The agreements will support equipment, chemicals, materials, infrastructure and workforce development. They follow Tata Electronics’ earlier partnership with ASML, a global supplier of lithography equipment.
“More than 450 ecosystem partners are already involved in the Dholera project, covering construction, equipment, chemicals and material supplies,” said Randhir Thakur, CEO, Tata Electronics.
Tata Electronics is developing a semiconductor fabrication plant at Dholera, Gujarat, with Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), alongside a semiconductor packaging facility at Jagiroad in Assam. Both projects, Thakur said, remain on track against their commitments to the government.
Dholera, Assam Projects Drive Local Ecosystem
The Dholera fab involves an investment of ₹91,526 crore and is planned to have a capacity of around 50,000 wafer starts per month. The Assam facility involves an investment of ₹27,120 crore and is planned to have a production capacity of 48 million units a day.
The company has also begun building the workforce needed for semiconductor manufacturing. Around 300 Indian university graduates are undergoing technical training at PSMC’s facilities in Taiwan.
Tata Electronics has created more than 1.5 lakh direct jobs across its operations, Thakur said. Women account for 65% of its workforce, including employees from remote villages and marginalised communities.
India’s electronics industry has grown from around ₹2 lakh crore in 2014 to more than ₹13 lakh crore in 2026, Thakur said, as the country moves from building electronics manufacturing capacity towards a wider semiconductor ecosystem.
The significance of these 16 MoUs lies in what they add around the fabs, equipment, materials, chemicals, infrastructure and skilled people. As Tata Electronics moves its Dholera and Assam projects forward, the depth of this supplier ecosystem will be an important marker of how quickly India can build semiconductor manufacturing capacity at scale.
