Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai has urged users to be cautious when relying on artificial intelligence, saying today’s systems, despite their impressive capabilities, still can make mistakes.
In an interview, Pichai noted that AI-generated information should be treated as one tool among many — not a definitive authority — and emphasised the need to maintain a diverse and reliable information ecosystem.

Pichai acknowledged that even the most advanced AI models remain imperfect. He cautioned users against assuming that AI outputs are always accurate, emphasising that critical thinking must remain central. Pichai also commented on the rapidly growing investment frenzy around AI. While calling the momentum “extraordinary,” he admitted that parts of the market reflect “irrational” behaviour. Drawing comparisons to the dot-com era, he said the current wave will likely include both overinvestment and genuine long-term innovation.
He added that if an AI bubble does burst, no company, including Google, would be “immune” to its impact. Still, he expressed confidence that Google’s position in the AI stack, from chips and data to models and research, gives it strong resilience.

Despite the risks, Pichai reaffirmed Google’s deep commitment to AI development. He highlighted plans for major investments over the next two years, particularly in strengthening AI research and infrastructure.
