HCLSoftware has acquired Belgian agentic artificial intelligence (AI) startup Wobby for $5.2 million. Through this deal, the enterprise, a software wing of HCLTech, plans to deepen its capabilities in data intelligence and analytics.

The transaction, subject to customary closing conditions, is set to be completed by early 2026. Wobby is an early-stage startup developing AI-driven data analyst agents to help enterprises interact with complex datasets using natural language.

What Wobby Brings to HCLSoftware?

Founded in Antwerp, Wobby focuses on “agentic AI” systems that can independently analyse data, respond to queries and generate insights without constant human intervention.

It allows business users to ask questions in simple language and receive contextual, analytics-ready responses.

“Wobby’s capabilities will be integrated into its Actian Data Intelligence Platform, strengthening its offerings in data discovery, metadata management, governance and analytics. The goal is to make enterprise data more accessible to non-technical users while improving decision-making speed and accuracy,” stated HCLSoftware officials.

Strategic Push into Data and AI

The acquisition aligns with HCLSoftware’s broader strategy to expand its data and AI portfolio for automation-led analytics and generative AI tools.

As organisations struggle with the growing volumes of structured and unstructured data, they need to invest in intelligent data platforms. Hence, this deal focuses on building AI-native software capabilities through targeted acquisitions, particularly in areas that complement the existing enterprise data and analytics stack.
