India and Norway upgraded ties to a Green Strategic Partnership with new agreements in AI, clean energy, startups, health tech and space cooperation.

India and Norway have upgraded their relationship to a ‘Green Strategic Partnership’ during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Norway. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Modi announced stronger cooperation in clean and green sectors.

The new partnership will increase work between the two countries in areas like clean energy, climate resilience, blue economy, and green shipping. Modi said India’s scale and talent, along with Norway’s technology and investment, can help create global solutions. Norway will also join the Indo-Pacific Initiative, showing stronger engagement with India in the region.

Cooperation in AI, Startups and High-Tech

Both countries discussed steps to strengthen the recently implemented Trade and Economic Partnership. They agreed to increase collaboration in high technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and startups to make the partnership future-ready.

Several MoUs were signed during the bilateral meeting. These agreements cover high-tech health solutions, digital health, and digital public infrastructure. India’s space agency Indian Space Research Organisation and the Norwegian Space Agency also signed an MoU to deepen cooperation in the space sector.
