Statewide Inspection Targets EV Charging Infrastructure
Authorities have begun inspecting EV charging hubs across Telangana, focusing on compliance with electrical safety standards, installation protocols and emergency response readiness.
The audit covers both public and private charging stations, including those installed in commercial complexes, residential societies and national highways.
Authorities also plan to review the quality of equipment, wiring systems, load management practices, and fire prevention measures. Operators have been asked to address any gaps immediately. Non-compliant stations may face penalties or temporary shutdowns.
The exercise is part of the strategy to standardise EV infrastructure as the number of electric vehicles on Indian roads continues to rise.

Focus on Fire Safety and Regulatory Compliance
The audit places strong emphasis on fire safety preparedness, especially in high-density urban areas. Officials are checking for the availability of fire extinguishers, ventilation systems and proper spacing between charging units to minimise risks.
The initiative follows incidents reported across the country involving EV-related fires, raising concerns about battery safety and charging practices. Telangana authorities aim to actively mitigate similar risks by enforcing stricter compliance & ensuring that operators follow prescribed guidelines.
Industry stakeholders have been requested to cooperate with inspection teams and maintain updated safety certifications. The government is also expected to issue revised guidelines based on audit findings to strengthen the EV ecosystem.
