India to Become Global Electronics Supply Chain Partner: Ashwini Vaishnaw

India will soon stand tall as a trusted global partner in the value and supply chains for electronics manufacturing, said Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

While attending the ground-breaking ceremony of the Google Cloud India AI Hub, the minister said the government has clearly outlined its strategy to scale electronics manufacturing and strengthen supply chain partnerships with global technology firms.

Strengthening Electronics Supply Chains Through Global Partnerships

“India is positioning itself as a dependable partner in global electronics & semiconductor supply chains. This is backed by policy support and expanding domestic manufacturing capacity.”

-said Vaishnaw.

He called on global technology companies, including Google, to manufacture servers, chips and related hardware in India, signalling a push to deepen local participation across the electronics value chain.

The government’s approach is based on the inclusion of component manufacturing, assembly and logistics. Officials aim to reduce import dependence while improving supply chain resilience and lead times.

AI Hub Project Signals Scale and Ecosystem Expansion

The statement came alongside the launch of a large-scale AI infrastructure project being developed in partnership with Adani Group and Airtel Nxtra.

The project includes a planned 1 GW hyperscale data centre, with an estimated investment of $15 billion. The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated land for the development, positioning Visakhapatnam as a key node in India’s digital and manufacturing ecosystem.

Vaishnaw said the expansion of such infrastructure will support sectors such as logistics, healthcare and manufacturing, while reinforcing India’s role in global electronics and AI supply chains.
