Strategic Partnership Sets Roadmap to 2030
The two sides unveiled the India-New Zealand Strategic Partnership and Roadmap to 2030. It is a framework guiding cooperation over the next four years.
The roadmap covers trade, defence, tourism, agriculture, technology, sports, culture and coordination on Indo-Pacific and multilateral issues.
According to the joint statement, both governments also agreed to work towards doubling bilateral trade in goods and services by 2030, while maintaining regular structured engagement between their defence ministries and armed forces.
Defence & Maritime Cooperation Take Centre Stage
Among all the outcomes, a Memorandum of Arrangement on Maritime Cooperation between India’s Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force stood tall. The pact establishes a framework for dialogue, information sharing, coordination & joint maritime exercises across the Indo-Pacific region.
The premiers also signed a Mutual Logistics Support Arrangement between the Indian Navy and the New Zealand Defence Force. The deal enables reciprocal logistical assistance during approved exercises, operations and other official engagements, improving interoperability between the two militaries.
Taken together, the agreements reflect a broader push by both nations to strengthen regional maritime security and deepen defence cooperation amid a growing strategic focus on the Indo-Pacific.
The visit concluded with the exchange of multiple memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements spanning defence and other priority sectors, reinforcing what both governments described as a stronger and more structured partnership for the years ahead.
The strengthened India-New Zealand partnership signals growing momentum behind Indo-Pacific cooperation.
Defence collaboration, supply chain resilience and trade negotiations are expected to remain key areas to watch as both countries pursue deeper strategic and economic engagement through 2030.
