Tech Mahindra has partnered with Microsoft to launch an ontology-driven agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform to help telecom operators modernise networks, manage data more efficiently, and accelerate digital transformation.

The companies said the platform will help telecom service providers build a unified data layer and automate operations with AI-based agents. The initiative is designed to help telecom firms simplify complex data systems, improve decision-making and speed up the deployment of new digital services.

The collaboration will combine Tech Mahindra’s telecom domain expertise with Microsoft’s cloud and Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities to support operators adopting data mesh architecture and advanced analytics.

AI Platform to Support Telecom Data Modernisation

The new platform uses ontology-based architecture to structure telecom data across multiple systems. This approach allows AI agents to access, understand and process information across networks, operations and customer systems.

According to the companies, telecom operators often struggle with fragmented data stored across legacy systems. The platform aims to address this by creating a connected data framework that enables automation and faster insights.

By using agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI), the system can perform tasks such as analysing network performance, managing data workflows and supporting operational decisions with minimal human intervention.

The companies said this can help telecom providers improve efficiency, reduce operational complexity and enhance customer service delivery.

Focus on Data Mesh and AI-Driven Operations

The collaboration will also support telecom companies transitioning to data mesh architecture, in which data is managed across decentralised domains rather than a single central system.

Tech Mahindra said the platform is built to integrate with telecom infrastructure while running on Microsoft’s cloud ecosystem. The companies expect this to help operators deploy AI solutions faster and scale them across different business functions.

Industry analysts say telecom operators globally are increasing investments in Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation and cloud infrastructure to handle rising data volumes and support next-generation services such as 5G networks.

The partnership reflects a broader push by technology companies to develop sector-specific AI platforms tailored for industries such as telecommunications, manufacturing and financial services.
