Delhi is entering India’s rapidly evolving semiconductor landscape with a measured and pragmatic strategy. Rather than competing in the capital-intensive race to build fabrication plants, the city is focusing on areas where it already has a foundation, chip design, research, and skilled talent.

The government is in the process of drafting a dedicated semiconductor policy to position the capital as a hub for design, advanced research, and packaging-related activities. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta indicated that the plan will centre on strengthening semiconductor design capabilities and intellectual property creation, while also supporting research, innovation, and manufacturing-linked segments such as assembly, testing, marking, and packaging.
