Delhi Metro Starts Hydrogen-Powered Shuttle Bus Service in Central Vista
Delhi Metro has launched hydrogen-powered shuttle buses in Central Vista to improve last-mile connectivity and promote green mobility in Delhi.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), along with the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs and the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, has started a hydrogen-powered shuttle bus service in Delhi’s Central Vista area from today. The new service aims to improve last-mile connectivity between Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth Metro stations and nearby government offices.

IOCL Provides Hydrogen Buses

Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has provided two hydrogen-fuelled buses for the project. Each bus can carry 35 passengers. The buses are equipped with GPS tracking and CCTV systems for safety and monitoring.

Route and Timings

The shuttle buses will run on working days from Monday to Friday, except Gazetted Holidays. Service timings are: morning, 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM and afternoon, 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. One bus will run clockwise and the other anti-clockwise every 30 minutes.

The buses will cover important locations such as Kartavya Bhawan, Vigyan Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Akbar Road, Baroda House, National Stadium, India Gate, National Gallery of Modern Arts, and Seva Teerth Metro Station.

Ticket Fare and Operations

Passengers can pay through the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), UPI, or cash. Ticket prices are ₹10 and ₹15 depending on the travel stage.DMRC will manage bus operations, ticketing, and passenger support, while IOCL will provide drivers and hydrogen fuel.

Focus on Green Mobility

The government said the project is a major step towards clean energy and sustainable public transport in India. The initiative is also expected to support future hydrogen-based transport projects across the country.
