Samsung Electronics has secured a semiconductor partnership with US chip designer Broadcom that could be worth more than $200 billion by 2030, marking one of the biggest long-term agreements in the artificial intelligence (AI) chip industry.
The collaboration strengthens Samsung’s push to expand its contract chip manufacturing business at a time when demand for AI infrastructure continues to surge.

Broadcom Partnership Strengthens Samsung’s AI Chip Business
Under the agreement, Samsung and Broadcom will work together across memory chips, semiconductor manufacturing and advanced chip packaging for next-generation AI systems.
Broadcom, one of the world’s largest designers of custom AI chips, will rely on Samsung’s manufacturing capabilities to produce future communications processors and other AI-focused semiconductors.
The merger is expected to run through 2030, with Samsung estimating the combined value of work across its semiconductor businesses at more than $200 billion.
The companies formally announced the expanded partnership during an AI summit in San Francisco.

AI Boom Creates Fresh Opportunities for Samsung
The deal is a significant boost for Samsung’s foundry business, which manufactures chips designed by other companies.
Long-term production commitments from Broadcom are expected to improve utilisation at Samsung’s advanced manufacturing plants as it works to narrow the gap with industry leader TSMC in the fast-growing AI chip market.
Broadcom’s next generation of high-speed communication chips will be built using Samsung’s advanced manufacturing technology. The companies also plan to expand cooperation on high-bandwidth memory (HBM), a key component used in AI servers and data centres.
