Part of a Wider Football Strategy
The Serie A agreement is a part of Zee’s rapid expansion into sports business.
In recent months, the broadcaster secured rights to FIFA competitions in India until 2034 and also added Germany’s Bundesliga to its portfolio. Together, these deals give the company a strong line-up of international football properties spanning club and international competitions.
The progress signals growing interest in football among Indian audiences, particularly younger age groups, who increasingly consume live sport across both television & digital platforms.

Competition in India’s Sports Broadcasting Market Intensifies
The acquisition further signals Zee’s intent to compete with established sports broadcasters covering premium global sporting events.
Exclusive rights to leading European football leagues are becoming an important differentiator as media companies compete for subscribers & advertising revenue.
With Serie A joining FIFA tournaments and the Bundesliga under one umbrella, Zee has significantly expanded its football offering for Indian fans ahead of several high-profile seasons.
Zee’s latest rights win underlines a clear long-term strategy: building a football-first sports portfolio that extends beyond marquee tournaments. If viewer interest continues to grow, premium European football could become an increasingly valuable driver for both television audiences and streaming subscriptions in India.
