Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) and Bengaluru-based RMZ have started construction of their third data centre in Navi Mumbai, with the new facility set to add 64 MW of AI-ready capacity. The Navi Mumbai data centre is being developed to support the growing demand for high-performance infrastructure, particularly from hyperscale customers and AI workloads.

Once completed, Mumbai 3 will take the Navi Mumbai campus’s operational capacity to 86 MW. The campus has the potential to reach 148 MW when fully developed, according to the companies.

Mumbai 3 data centre follows hyperscale customer deal

Construction of Mumbai 3 is already underway after Colt DCS and RMZ secured the facility’s first hyperscale customer. Ground preparation for the project began in December 2025.

The development comes as demand for data centre capacity continues to grow, driven by cloud services, digital applications and the increasing use of AI. The 64 MW facility will form part of Colt DCS and RMZ’s wider data centre expansion in India, with Navi Mumbai emerging as an important location for large-scale digital infrastructure.

Colt DCS and RMZ plan $1.7 billion India investment

Colt DCS and RMZ operate as a joint venture and announced plans in 2024 to invest $1.7 billion in India’s data centre market. Under the partnership, the companies aim to develop data centre capacity across Mumbai and Chennai.

The Mumbai 3 project is therefore another step towards that broader expansion plan, adding to the capacity being developed by the joint venture in India’s key data centre markets. With 64 MW of additional AI-ready capacity planned at Mumbai 3, the Navi Mumbai campus is set to become a larger part of the companies’ India data centre portfolio.
